The shackles are out, and Creed III has established its global footprint. The most recent entry in the Rocky Balboa spin-off series tells the tale of Adonis “Donnie” Creed (Michael B. Jordan), who engages Damian “Diamond Dame” Anderson, a childhood buddy, in an epic struggle over loyalty, lost love, and broken brotherhood (Jonathan Majors).

After earning a loud and proud $100.4 million at the global box office and drawing in roughly 5.3 million spectators, it is evident that Jordan’s directorial debut was a success with moviegoers.

Rocky aficionados understandably awaited the movie, but it also attracted attention from a wider audience because it was the first sports movie to be shot in breathtaking IMAX. Creed III brought in $9.6 million at the global IMAX box office, with $3.1 million coming from overseas countries. It featured eye-catching visuals both inside and outside the ring.

Speaking about the impact of the film being shot in IMAX, CEO of Imax Rich Gelfond said: “Michael B. Jordan went deep with our technology to create a visceral, absorbing experience and audiences responded, turning out to IMAX in outsized numbers for the first sports movie ever shot with our cameras.”
