In a new capacity, Julianne Hough is returning to Dancing with the Stars. The actress and dancer, 34, will be returning to the Disney+ competition series as a co-host alongside Alfonso Ribeiro. Three days have passed since it was revealed on Friday that Tyra Banks would leave the show after three seasons.

From 2007 through 2009, Hough appeared on DWTS for five seasons as a professional dancer. She later made a comeback for six seasons as a judge between 2014 and 2021.

On March 16, Banks, 49, revealed that she was quitting as host of DWTS after three seasons.

In an interview with the publication, Banks stated, “I feel it’s really time for me to focus on my company and my entrepreneurship, as well as also producing more TV, but behind the scenes. From the dance floor to the stock market floor, or from the ballroom to the boardroom, I believe it is time to move on.

Banks, who was also an executive producer on the show, said when asked whether she was truly leaving DWTS, “Don’t you think it’s time? Well, I believe the time has come, and I’m an entrepreneur at heart. My business, as well as the creation of new television, is what I believe my heart and soul are in. But I really, truly want to concentrate on my business, and hosting prevents it from happening.

In season 29 of DWTS in 2020, Banks took Tom Bergeron’s and Erin Andrews’ places as hosts. Since the reality dance competition’s debut in 2005, Bergeron, 67, has presented it alongside a number of co-hosts. Andrews, 44, joined Bergeron as a co-host in 2014.

Ribeiro, 51, would co-host DWTS season 31 with Banks, it was revealed in July 2022. It also marked the first season of the show’s transition from a live broadcast on a news channel, where it made its start, to streaming on Disney+
