Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard say being a parent of 2 daughters it’s a great blessing
Parents Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are ecstatic about it. The celebrities spoke on a panel at SXSW on Thursday in Austin, Texas, in support of the diaper company Hello Bello. They also talked about how important it is to have inexpensive baby supplies.
“We appreciate you visiting the diaper panel. Are you certain this is what you want?” Shepard, 48, made light of his and Bell’s baby products business, which they co-founded with the president and partner Erica Buxton.
Later, the host of the podcast Armchair Expert claimed that “Being a father is unrivaled. The best thing to ever happen to me, in my opinion.”
Shepard said, “When I fail in life, I get to go home and still be a dad. “The experience is the most transformational. It is obvious why you are in this place.”
For her part, Bell, 42, told the crowd at the Austin Convention Center that being pregnant “was so fantastic” and talked about how wonderful it is to “watch her girls play together.”
Bell told the news that becoming involved in the community and giving back are crucial not just for themselves but also as role models for their children “At times of stress, I’ve invited mom friends or friends who are friends with my friends to come over and lower the tension in the house. That might be all there is to it.”
While dads are less likely than moms to participate in a community, the gap is shrinking, according to Shepard, who also observed that dads in their circle are reaching out more.
“I frequently receive calls from dads saying, “I have both kids for five days,” when their wives are away. I have to spend all three of those days here,” “He laughed as he added. So, indeed, it appears that the dads are home when the women are away.
Later on, in the panel discussion on Thursday, Bell said “Parenting is very difficult, and you need this community during the first few months of being alone. We are all involved in this. Everything is fine; we are here to help. This is your community.”
Bell and Shepard added that they use this affection to relate to other parents and don’t refer to children as “other people’s children” since they care about families as a whole and want to support them by supplying them with inexpensive, wholesome items.
Bell acknowledged the couple’s privilege: “We were going from LA baby boutique to LA baby boutique and realized we weren’t looking at the invoices. But it feels unjust that friends and relatives aren’t able to do this or can’t afford to.
Nobody should have to decide between having a baby and staying within their means, she said, and if she could play a role in preventing that from happening or resolving it, why shouldn’t she be doing this?
