According to a report by a foreign news agency, a man in China’s Yunnan province had severe pain in his nose. When he arrived at the hospital with severe pain, doctors were surprised to see that he had leech in his nose.
A 51-year-old man drank contaminated water from a river two weeks ago, during which he also put water in his nose and the leech went into his nose.
His nose had been infested with leech for two weeks and caused severe pain, doctors said. The leech was three centimetres in size.
Dr Liu Xiongguang at the Beihai People’s Hospital in South China performed the medical procedure to remove the leech.
According to the doctors, the leech sucks blood five times more than its weight but its size did not increase very fast.
