After a four-year-old who attended a daycare center tested positive for COVID-19, more than 1,000 Queensland families have been isolated.

More than 1,000 families in southeast Queensland have been ordered to stay in quarantine for about two weeks after a four-year-old girl infected by an interstate truck driver may have exposed them to the coronavirus.

The girl was diagnosed with the virus on Thursday after being active in the neighbourhood for five days, and she is the daughter of a close family member of a Logan truck driver who was diagnosed on Thursday after being active in the community for five days.

All of the driver’s close contacts have tested negative for the virus so far.

Chief health officer Jeanette Young told reporters on Saturday that the girl, who attended the Boulevard Early Learning Centre in Windaroo, was likely infectious in the community for two days.

A hundred families whose children attended the same centre were ordered to stay at home for 14 days.

960 families with children who attend Windaroo State School must also isolate for 14 days after a student attended the school and also went to the daycare centre before and after school hours.
