Over the last decade, China has increased medical facilities in rural regions to ensure that its 509.8 million rural citizens have access to basic medical care.

According to the National Health Commission, by the end of 2021, China will have established 23,000 county-level medical and healthcare institutions, 35,000 township health facilities, and 599,000 village clinics across the nation.

According to the commission, the development of health agencies has addressed the shortage of medical resources in rural areas and allowed rural inhabitants, who account for 36.1 percent of the overall population, to have medical services delivered to their homes.

The commission also stated that programs have been launched to assist patients from approximately 10 million families who are experiencing financial difficulties.
