At least 15 worshipers have been killed in mass shooting by armed men on a mosque in northern African country Burkina Faso.

According to British media, 15 died on spot after the gunmen entered the Grand Mosque and started shooting aimlessly.

The attack prompted many locals to flee the village which is close to the Malian border.

Local police sealed the area after the incident and took the statements of all the witnesses.

The conflict spread across the border from neighboring Mali. The UN Refugee agency says more than a quarter of a million people in Burkina Faso have been forced to flee their homes over the past three months.
