Riyadh: 18 countries pledge to maintain regional security

Chiefs of Staff of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and a number of countries attended the Security and Defense Conference hosted by Arab countries in Riyadh.

Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Korea, United Kingdom and the US, emphasized their determination to deter any aggression that targets vital facilities in Saudi Arabia.

The Conference in Riyadh aimed to emphasize regional air and marine protection, discuss the Iranian hostilities and provide the required capabilities for the protection of the security and stability of the region.

The Chief of Staff of Saudi Arabia, Gen. Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili lauded efforts of King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud to maintain regional security.

Ruwaili said that the region has been suffering consecutive crises since the regime of the Iranian revolution came to power, he said, adding that Tehran was using sectarianism for political ends and forming militia proxies that show absolute loyalty to Tehran and are destabilizing the Middle East.
