Saudi cabinet reshuffle: New Foreign Minister appointed

Saudi Arabia appointed Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud as Foreign Minister on Wednesday in a partial cabinet reshuffle.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud had served as ambassador to Germany and earlier as political adviser at the Washington embassy. His previous business career in the defense industry included chairmanship of a joint venture with planemaker Boeing.

King Salman appointed Dr Abdullah bin Sharaf Al Ghamdi as chairman, and Saleh bin Mohammed Al Othaim as deputy, of the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial intelligence.

Dr Al Assaf was appointed as Minister of the State and cabinet member.

Dr Essam bin Abdullah Al Waqit was made director of the National Information Centre and Dr Tareq bin Abdullah Al Enazi was named chairman of the National Data Management Office.

Meanwhile, Dr Nabil bin Mohamed Al Amoudi was replaced as Transport Minister by Saleh bin Nasser Al Jasser.
