Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh said that economic condition of the country is deeply alarming and latest GDP figures released by government are clearly unacceptable.

According to the Indian media sources, he was speaking at the National Economy Conclave in New Delhi here on Tuesday.

The remarks by Manmohan Singh come just after data released by National Statistical Office showed that India’s GDP growth slipped to a 26-quarter low of 4.5 per cent in the second quarter July to September of the current fiscal.

Mr Singh further said the sharp decline of India’s GDP is worrisome.

He said mere changes in economic policies will not help revive the economy.
