Year of Arabic Calligraphy will be a celebration of the ancient art

Minister of Culture Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Nin Farhan has announced that the year 2020 will be the “Arabic Calligraphy Year.”

This was in appreciation of the importance accorded to Arabic calligraphy in articulating the richness, history and aesthetics of the Arabic language in its details and forms.

The announcement made in celebration of Arabic calligraphy.

It coincided with the celebration of World Arabic Language Day that falls on Dec. 18.

During the Arabic Calligraphy Year 2020, the Ministry of Culture will organize qualitative activities that serve Arabic calligraphy.

It will enhance its presence in society throughout the year, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

The ministry will also motivate government agencies and private institutions to participate in the event.

Their contribution will help highlight the importance of Arabic calligraphy.

Furthermore, it will encourage individuals and those interested in presenting their talents across various platforms.

The celebration of the Arabic calligraphy comes within the efforts of the ministry to highlight the main components of the Arab culture.

Moreover, it also serves as an important knowledge container that consists of Arab culture and contributed to its transmission from one generation to another.

Yesterday, MDL Beast launched a three-day inaugural edition of MDL Beast festival.

It is the region’s largest music and cultural festival in Riyadh.

The festival offers a multi-sensory, multi-stage experience, showcasing both local and international talent.

It represents all spheres of the cultural landscape across five districts.

Although, the main stage, aptly entitled ‘The Big Beast’ the biggest build in the world this year.

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Mohammed is the first and current Minister of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He is in charge of various key positions directly related to the execution of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
