Senators clashed overrules as Trump’s impeachment trial opens in the Senate.

The US Senate rejected democratic efforts to protect the US President in the case.

Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell did not support the plan to speed up the hearing after facing pressure from fellow Republicans.

Senators have pledged to participate as impartial jurors. They have been hearing arguments six hours a day, six days a week in a trial. The US Chief Justice John Roberts presides the trial.

The Senate rejected three Democratic bids with the voting of 53-47 to get evidence in the trial

Senators blocked a motion to Subpoena White House Files from Democratic leader Chuck Schumer.

They also demanded an order of records and documents from the White House Budget Office and State department.

The House Democrat Adam Schiff said in a statement that most Americans do not think there will be a fair trial.

He said, “They don’t believe the Senate will be impartial,” “They believe the result is pre-cooked.”

Note that the legal team of Trump had demanded the Senate to release him immediately.

About half of Americans say the Senate should voted to convict President Donald Trump and remove him from office in the impeachment trial (51%).

While 45% said the Senate should vote against conviction and removal in Trump’s impeachment trial.
