Israel launches airstrikes targeting Hamas in Gaza

Israel reportedly sent airstrikes that targeted Palestinian resistance group Hamas two positions in Gaza.

The attack took place at the Gaza strip late Friday.

The international news agency reported that missiles launched from Israeli warplanes targeted positions belonging to the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing.

Sources said that no casualties were reported.

According to the sources, the Israeli military claimed that they attacked in retaliation to rockets sent from Gaza into Israel.

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres insisted warring parties across the world to leave their weapons for global ceasefire and fight the bigger battle against coronavirus pandemic, as it is the common enemy that is now threatening all of humankind.

He said, “The fury of the virus illustrates the folly of war”, 

“That is why today, I am calling for an immediate global ceasefire in all corners of the world. It is time to put the armed conflict on lockdown and focus together on the true fight of our lives.” 

UN news states that the global ceasefire would enable humanitarians to reach the population that is the most vulnerable to the spread of coronavirus.
