Taliban make efforts to counter COVID 19 in Afghanistan

Taliban in Afghanistan witnessed to be taking steps to counter the spread of coronavirus by distributing masks.

Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, tweeted that a campaign had started in Paktika province:

The Guardian reported that Afghanistan’s health ministry has reported 27 new Coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, pushing the total number of infections in the country to 145.

Many of the 2 million Afghan workers have lost their jobs, falling into despair.

Since late February, more than 115,000 Afghans have returned home through the border crossing in Herat province in what has been the biggest inwards migration wave in Afghanistan’s recent history.

Furthermore Herat’s governor, Abdul Qayum Rahimi, estimated that close to half of the returnees “might virus carriers”, raising fears that the influx will place greater strain on Afghanistan’s fragile health system.
