Climate Activist Greta Thunberg emphasizes importance of expert guidance amid COVID-19

Climate Activist Greta Thunberg has said that ‘We need to listen to the experts; coronavirus has proven the dependence society has on scientific data.

Swedish Climate Activist Greta Thunberg said this in a digital conversation to mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

Greta Thunberg said  coronavirus emphasized the importance of expert guidance, and same approach should taken to solve the climate crisis.

Moreover Greta Thunberg said dread virus lock downs led to reduced emissions levels as people recommended to stay home to contain the spread of the virus.

She said that;

“We are realizing that we are dependent on science and scientific evidence,”

“and we need to listen to the experts and the scientific data.”

However she said “If the coronavirus crisis has shown us one thing, it is that our society is not sustainable,”

Furthermore she said “If one single virus can destroy economies in a couple of weeks, it shows we are not thinking long-term and taking risks into account.”

However, the pandemic upended the predicted trajectory of the climate crisis, as research efforts shifted to deal with the immediate problem at hand.

The year 2020 seen as “a pivotal year for how we address climate change,”

According to the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres,

Coronavirus could kill more than 300,000 people if US restrictions are lifted prematurely, federal documents showed.

Total Number of coronavirus cases around the world has hit the tally of 2,628,527.

However the number of deaths reported due to the novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19 is 183,424.

Furthermore 784,986 people recovered from the dread coronavirus worldwide.
