Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez said the country is “close to passing the peak of infections” as the death toll fell for the second day in a row. 

Pedro Sánchez said the lockdown measures would be extended till 15 April, as he said the restrictions were “saving lives”.

The international news agency stated that the death toll of 809 in one day is the lowest in Spain.

Officials are struggling to arrange masks for all the citizens.

Note that there are more than 1.1 million confirmed cases of coronavirus whereas deaths reported are more than 60,000 worldwide.

Around 7,026 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The figure reported on Friday was 7,472.

There are total 124,736 have been infected in Spain whereas 11,44 people have lost their lives.

PM said that extending lockdown measures until 25th April was essential for the health service time for healing.

He said, “These are the most difficult days of our lives,”

He said that new hygiene, detection and tracing measures would prevail once the number of new cases was under control a “progressive return to a new normal” would get underway to rebuild the economy,

Apart from that, he said, It is clear that the Spanish economy will have to go into debt and we will have to take resources from future generations to tackle the pandemic,”
