New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has said the government will extend lockdown orders beyond May 15 in many parts of the state.

Andrew said those restrictions could be relaxed in some regions if they have sufficient hospital capacity to meet proper medical assistance.

The governor also told that New York has now tested 7,500 people for antibodies against COVID-19 and that 14.9% tested positive, indicating they were infected and survived.

Moreover, US President Donald Trump’s pause in holding White House coronavirus briefings only lasted the weekend as he took centre stage in the Rose Garden to promote what he called a major expansion in testing for the virus.

The White House announced on Monday morning that the day’s briefing was cancelled, only to reverse course hours later and put it back on Trump’s schedule.

“We are continuing to rapidly expand our capacity and confident we have enough testing to begin reopening and the reopening process. We want to get our country open and the testing is not going to be a problem at all,” Trump said.
