Israel has sworn in a unity government amid political crisis.

A power-sharing deal was made in April according to which the right-wing PM Benjamin Netanyahu will be capable of serving for another 18 months.

On the other hand, his centrist rival Benny Gantz will work as deputy PM, ahead of taking over.

However, Palestinian leaders did not accept the validity of the decision.

Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz said the new government will focus on handling the economic crisis resulted from coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Netanyahu presented his new government in the Israeli parliament. He said at the beginning of the session in Jerusalem, “The public wants a unity government, and that’s what the public is getting today,”

Mr. Netanyahu also spoke over Jewish settlements in the West Bank. He said, “It’s time to apply the Israeli law, and write another glorious chapter in the history of Zionism.”

According to details, both Netanyahu and Gantz agreed to a three-year coalition government last month.
