Whilst ongoing Coronavirus lockdown in many countries, staff members and volunteers prepare hot food and distribute among people waiting outside the Dar Al-Hijrah Center in Virginia.

The centre  is closed for public amid the deadly pandemic outbreak, people gather outside to receive food during the month of Ramadan.

“Ramadan is a month where we come together as a community, come for nightly prayers, break fast together, so this is a big impact,” Saif Rahman, director of public and government affairs at Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, said.

“The other component of this, very honestly, is the financial component. Ramadan typically is the month when mosques tend to get the vast majority of their yearly budgets in terms of donations.”

A simple drive-through has been set up to provide meals to the public.

“The food is being cooked by the workers of the mosque and us volunteers we come later, around 4pm,” told a volunteer,  “to pack the food, put the stickers on, bag them and then distribute them.”

The civilians of Virginia are facing lockdown restrictions since March and it is still unknown will will it get eased.
