President of Argentina Goes into Self Isolation

President of Argentina Alberto Fernández has voluntarily self isolated himself amid the growing concerns over a spike in coronavirus infections in the country.

Presidential doctor Federico Saavedra said in a statement The decision to quarantine the president – whose popularity riding high on his no-nonsense response to the pandemic – taken due to the “significant increase in the circulation of the virus,”

Until now, Argentina’s strong coronavirus lockdown, a standout success in the containment of the pandemic.

The sudden rise in cases has also struck a number of current and former senior politicians, including former Buenos Aires governor María Eugenia Vidal, 46, a presidential hopeful for the 2023 elections for the opposition PRO party.
