Brazil President’s wife tests positive for coronavirus

Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro’s wife Michelle has tested positive for coronavirus. In addition to this, one of the President’s minister has also contracted the virus.

Brazil is the second worst-affected countries in the world after the USA. There are 2,613,789 confirmed cases of coronavirus out of which 91,377 have died whereas 1,824,095 have recovered. The number of active cases is 698,317.

The presidential office said in a statement that the reports of president’s wife came a few days after the president recovered from Covid-19 following weeks in isolation.

“First lady Michelle Bolsonaro tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. She is in good health and will follow all established protocols,” it said, referring to the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

On the other hand, Brazil’s minister of science and technology Marcos Pontes said that he has tested positive for the virus. He has become the fifth minister in Bolsonaro’s government to be infected with the disease.

He announced the news on Facebook saying he was quarantining and working remotely. 

“I just tested positive for the new coronavirus,” “I’m well, just a bit of flu symptoms and a headache.”

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro informed that he has tested negative for Coronavirus, two weeks after he had contracted the deadly virus.

“RT-PCR for Sars-Cov 2: negative. Good morning everyone,” the Brazilian President Bolsonaro tweeted, along with a photo of himself smiling and holding a packet of hydroxychloroquine.
