Vietnam has closed the city of Da Nang for tourists as new locally transmitted cases of coronavirus were reported.

Tourists are not allowed to enter the city for 14 days and extra flights are being laid on to fly out up to 80,000 visitors.

Globally, there are 16,424,841 confirmed infections out of which 652,343 have died whereas 10,052,978 have recovered. The number of active cases is 5,719,520. New cases reported are 14,362 worldwide.

Vietnam has recorded 400 coronavirus cases with no deaths. It has earlier closed borders and imposed quarantine and contact tracing.

However, four new cases have been reported nearly 100 days after its last locally transmitted case.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Monday ordered Da Nang citizens to maintain social distancing and halt non-essential services.

The first new case was a 57-year-old man. He had asked for medical care on July 20 for flu symptoms. He is now on a ventilator and is in serious condition.

More than 100 people, who had interacted with the man, were traced. All tested negative.

However, three new cases were reported over the weekend.

North Korea has reported the first suspected case of coronavirus.

According to the State news agency KCNA, a person who defected to South Korea three years ago came back last week the demarcation line had Covid-19 symptoms.

Leader Kim Jong-un organized an emergency meeting with officials. Lockdown has been imposed in the border city of Kaesong. Mr. Kim also ordered a “maximum emergency system” to handle the virus.
