An explosion broke out Sunday on a U.S. Navy warship on yesterday (Jul 13).

According to the details, At least 21 people were injured when a fire and an explosion broke out Sunday.

The officials said that it caused heavy damage and posing unique hazards for firefighters.

The US Navy said that the fire was reported at 8:30 a.m. in a lower cargo then the ship, the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard, had been docked at the U.S. naval base.

The investigative team has reached at the place but the reason of the fire or the explosion is still not cleared.

It is to be noted that about 160 sailors were aboard the ship at the time, 17 sailors and four civilians were injured.

The Naval Surface Forces wrote on Twitter, “As of 3:30 a.m. PST, firefighting teams continue operations on board USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) in addition to aerial firefighting operations that commenced via helicopter water bucket at 10:30 p.m. PST with two helicopters from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron THREE.”
