An official reported to the international news agency that the suspect had pulled a gun during the encounter with officers and police then shot him dead.

An official reported to the New York Times that a murder suspect in the area, who was not confirmed as Reinoehl, went out of his apartment and got into a vehicle.

Lieutenant Ray Brady said, “As they attempted to apprehend him, there was gunfire”.

On the other hand, Reinoehl had told a news source that he assumed and Danielson were going to stab him and his friend.
“I had no choice. I mean, I, I had a choice. I could have sat there and watched them kill a friend of mine of colour. But I wasn’t going to do that,” he said.

Earlier on Thursday, President Donald Trump said about the killing of Danielson, “Why aren’t the Portland police arresting the cold blooded killer of Aaron “Jay” Danielson. Do your job, and do it fast.”
