Local officials are soon to be punished as a typhoon Maysak that hit the eastern coast in North Korea.

According to the international news agency, authorities were blamed by A Workers’ Party newspaper for not being prepared for Typhoon

Maysak in the coastal city of Wonsan. They were blamed for having an “irresponsible attitude”. It blamed that officials did not follow orders given by the ruling party.

The paper did not report how many were missing, injured, or dead. But they mentioned “dozens of casualties”.

Local authorities in Wonsan had been instructed to “immediately organize a project to thoroughly identify properties at risk and evacuate all residents”, Saturday’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper said.

“A decision was made to impose severe party, administrative, and legal punishment to those responsible for the casualties.”

Typhoon Masak hit North Korea just a week another typhoon, Typhoon Bavi, targeted the country.

Typhoon Maysak also targeted South Korea. Two people were killed and more than 2,200 people were evacuated to the southern city of Busan.

Deadly hurricane Laura has battered southern states in the US, killing 14 people.

Ten of the people had died in Louisiana whereas four in Texas.

The storm has now been downgraded to tropical storm status, but several states are still reporting heavy rain.

On the other hand, at least 31 people have died in Haiti, which was earlier hit by storms Marco and Laura.
