Three Security Officials in Oklahoma, the United States, have been charged after allegedly forcing jail inmates to listen to the children’s song “Baby Shark” on repeat.

According to the details, “Baby Shark” which is a widely popular children’s song, was played on repeat, through a computer, while the inmates were forced to listen to it.

Local Police said Gregory Cornell Butler Jr, Christian Charles Miles, both 21, and Christopher Raymond Hendershott, 50, forced at least four inmates to stand with their hands cuffed behind their backs while listening to the irritatingly catchy viral song on repeat for two hours in November last year.

All three were charged with misdemeanor counts of cruelty to a prisoner. However, as per the court documents, Mr. Butler and Mr. Miles admitted to using the song “as a means to discipline inmates and teach them a lesson because they felt that disciplinary action within the Detention Centre was not working in correcting the behavior of the inmates”.

Oklahoma investigators claim that the song was used as a joke between the two guards and it caused undue emotional stress on the prison inmates, while their supervisor allowed it to happen.

The popular song “Baby Shark,” that opens with an attention-grabbing lyric “Baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,” has enthralled the heed of hordes of children.

On the contrary, the gripping tune about a family of sharks has become so lucrative that the Korean family behind it is now sitting on a rapidly growing multimillion-dollar fortune.
