Police Arrests Burglars Who Used Google Maps To Steal From Houses

Police in the Indian state of Karnataka has arrested two suspects for stealing with the help of Google Maps.

According to Indian media reports, Karnataka police on Monday arrested two burglars from Maharashtra who were trying to steal a house with the help of Google map.

Police also recovered a vehicle worth Rs. 28 lakh and cash of Rs. 11 lakh from the possession of the accused.

According to police, the arrested accused were identified as Prasanth Karoshi from Ispurali village in Karaveera taluk of Kolhapur district and Avinash Adavakar from Damane village in Ajara taluk.

According to Belagavi police, both the accused chose the house with the help of Google map and then continued to stalk for a few days. On the day of the theft, the accused were sitting outside the house while the police arrested them.

According to police officials, the suspects first patrolled the area and selected houses that had been closed for several days, then used Google Maps to view traffic on the street.

The investigating officer said that the accused had recently cleaned three houses and stolen valuable jewellery from them while the two accused had earlier committed several incidents in Maharashtra.

Police registered a case against the accused at the City Police Station and produced them before the court where the judge remanded them in judicial custody for further investigation.

Note that robberies were reported in different parts of India with the help of Google Map, after which the police became in action.
