Vienna: ‘Despicable terror attack’ leaves two dead, dozens wounded

A dreadful shooting attack at multiple locations in Austrian capital Vienna has killed two people and left dozens wounded.

According to the details, Gunmen opened fire on people enjoying at Vienna’s cafes and restaurants. The authorities said it was a terrorist attack that left two dead and dozens injured.

Witnesses said they saw a man shoot “like crazy” with what appeared to be an automatic weapon before police arrived and opened fire.

“They looked like firecrackers, then we realized that they were gunshots,” said one witness.

With one assailant shot dead, the city’s mayor urged people to remain indoors as police said a huge manhunt was underway for one of the attackers.

Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz termed the mass shooting “a despicable terror attack”.

“They seem to also, as far as we know, be very well equipped, with automatic weapons. So they were very well prepared,” Kurz added.

Moreover, Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig said 15 people were hospitalized, seven with serious injuries.
