Iran has warned Israel to refrain from crossing the “red lines” in the Persian Gulf. In the last days of President Trump’s administration, there have been recent reports that Israel has sent a submarine to the region.

According to reports from the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Monday, December 28, Iran has warned that if any “adventure” is carried out in Washington on January 20, as the transition to power draws near, Tehran will retaliate.

In Tehran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that Iran would fully defend itself in the event of any “adventure” by the US military. Just a week before Tehran’s stance, the US Navy announced that it had deployed a nuclear submarine in the Gulf region. Experts called the submarine’s deployment to the region a new demonstration of US military might against Iran.

A few days ago, the Israeli media also reported that an Israeli submarine was crossing the Suez Canal towards the Persian Gulf. These reports, however, were not confirmed by the Israeli government. In this context, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in an online press conference on Monday, “Everyone knows how important the Persian Gulf is for Iran.”
