Saudi King Salman Invites Gulf Arab Leaders To Attend GCC Summit

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia has invited the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to attend the upcoming summit.

The 41st GCC summit will be held in the Saudi capital Riyadh on January 5. Shah Salman, as the host country, has asked the GCC secretary-general to invite Arab leaders to attend the summit on his behalf.

The Secretary-General of the GCC, Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf, said in a statement on Saturday: The invitation was received by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai today.

According to the statement, the GCC leaders will discuss at this annual meeting to promote integrated cooperation between member countries in the fields of economic development, trade, education and culture.

At the next meeting, Arab leaders will review the impact of the coronavirus on Gulf countries and their economies and discuss joint efforts to combat it,” the UAE’s state-run news agency WAM said in a statement.

In addition to Saudi Arabia, the GCC includes the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait.
