YouTube has temporarily suspended President Donald Trump’s channel from uploading new videos or livestreams as previous content violated policies for “inciting violence”.

According to an official statement from YouTube, Trump’s channel cannot upload anything for a minimum of seven days, earlier content had been removed as well. The company did not provide details about the video.

YouTube’s spokesperson said in a statement, “After careful review, and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to the Donald J. Trump channel and issued a strike for violating our policies for inciting violence,”

“As a result, in accordance with our long-standing strikes system, the channel is now prevented from uploading new videos or livestreams for a minimum of seven days—which may be extended.”

YouTube also said that it would also disable comments underneath videos on Trump’s channel.

The move comes after Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building last week.

Social media giants including Facebook and Twitter tightened enforcement around misinformation policies.
