COVID-19: French Cinemas, Museums & Restaurants Shut till Feb

Fast-track vaccinations in France have started and as per the latest notification of the French Prime Minister Jean Castex cinemas, museums and restaurants will not open until January. Whereas, ski resorts will remain close throughout February.

Castex further added that nightly curfew all over the nation will be observed until Jan 20 as the hospitals remain under extreme pressure due to increased restrictions.

Moreover, one in two beds at the Intensive Care Units (ICU) is occupied by COVID-19 patients and to lessen the burden at hospitals only urgent cases are being treated.

Castex told media persons, “It is out of the question that we lower our guard.”

Prime Minister also added that until mid-February restaurants are expected to stay under tight restrictions.

The Minister of Health Olivier Veran said that France is keeping a check of the new South African and British variant of coronavirus.

However, the virus has taken more than 66, 500 lives in  France making it the seventh country adversely affected by the pandemic across the world.

Up till now, France has witnessed nineteen cases of the British variant. Out of which the two cases are from the region of greater Paris and Brittany which are extremely worrying clusters of the virus.

France will continue the travel ban on the people of the United Kingdom.
