On Sunday, the Indonesian disaster mitigation agency said that 73 people have lost their lives after an earthquake jolted Indonesia’s West Sulawesi province two days ago.

According to the international media reports, 820 got injured and over 27,800 were left homeless after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake destroyed the country.

Many went to take refuge in the mountains, while others went to cramped evacuation centers, said the witnesses.

Dwikorita Karnawati, the head of Indonesia’s meteorological, climatology, and geophysical agency (BMKG), has said that another quake in the region could potentially trigger a tsunami.

Earlier it was reported that the 6.2-magnitude quake had killed at least 34 in Indonesia’s Sulawesi island early on Friday.

Hundreds more were injured when the quake struck triggering panic among the terrified residents of the island.

The epicenter of the quake was six kilometers (3.73 miles) northeast of Majene city at a depth of 10 kilometers.
