Chinese billionaire Jack Ma has made his first public appearance in months as his company continues to deal with challenges.

The billionaire made a public appearance in a video posted online by Tianmu News, a subsidiary of the Zhejiang government’s official newspaper.

In the video, Ma can be seen speaking to teachers in rural China for an award ceremony that coincides with the Chinese holiday the Laba Festival. Ma has made a major priority for his foundation.

He is also doing philanthropic activities.

“We’ll meet again after the epidemic is over,” Ma said in the video. He told the teachers that the traditional in-person celebration for the ceremony has been canceled due to coronavirus.

Jack Ma suspected missing for 2 months

Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba Group, has not been seen in public for more than two months.

Jack Ma has been under the Chinese government’s scrutiny since the suspension of Ant’s blockbuster $37 billion initial public offerings (IPO) in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Media reports say that Jack Ma did not even appear in the final episode of his own talent show Africa’s Business Heroes in November. Alibaba’s executive took part in the show on Jack’s behalf.

The billionaire has also not tweeted anything for around three months now, since his last post on 10th October in 2020.

The report also quoted an Alibaba spokesperson who stated that Mr. Ma could no longer be part of the finale of the show “due to a schedule conflict.”
