Riyadh: Saudi-Qatar relations are improving, Saudi Arabia has made another big announcement to reopen its embassy.

According to foreign media reports, Saudi Arabia has announced to open its embassy in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan made the announcement at a news conference. The Saudi Foreign Minister said that the Saudi embassy in Doha would resume operations once the necessary matters were completed.

It should be noted that in the recent meeting of the organization held in Al-Aʻlā, it was decided to end the political, diplomatic and economic boycott of Qatar, after which the work of restoring relations in various fields is in full swing.

Saudi Arabia and its allies restored all ties with Qatar, ending a three-and-a-half-year conflict in the region.

A four-nation coalition led by Saudi Arabia, which included the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, severed ties with Qatar in June 2017 over accusations of close ties with Iran and support for extremist groups.

It may be recalled that Saudi Arabia had earlier announced that it was opening air, sea and land borders with Qatar.

Earlier, a top UAE official saidTravel, transportation, and shipping are likely to be resumed between Qatar and the UAE within a week.

Anwar Mohammed Gargash, UAE State Minister for Foreign Affairs told a virtual media briefing, “We want to do this sooner rather than later,” “The UAE is extremely supportive and positive about AlUla Declaration.”

But, he also said that the UAE is realistic as any crisis will leave issues of trust, some will be easy to fix, but others will take a longer time.“We reiterate the GCC is more successful in its collective common market, rather than politically. So yes, it will take confidence-building. But we are turning a page on the crisis and starting on a positive note to build trust.”

Gargash also explained about the final communique of the GCC leaders’ summit in the Saudi city of AlULA Summit. He said that the statement affirmed “the solidarity of the Gulf States regarding any direct or indirect interference in their internal affairs, and members agreed that no country’s sovereignty be violated or its security targeted.”
