Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) have commenced their annual drills near the Iraqi border on Thursday.

According to a report on Iranian state TV, the exercise is called “Great Prophet 16” and is being carried out in the southwestern part of the country.

Drones and helicopters will also be used during the exercise. Iran’s armed forces have stepped up military exercises in recent months.

The military action is intended to put pressure on US President Joseph Biden. He has announced that Iran will rejoin the 2015 nuclear deal but has made it a condition that Iran is given a high level of uranium before that.

In January, Revolutionary Guards conducted military exercises in the Indian Ocean and tested anti-ship ballistic missiles.

One week ago, the Iranian navy tested cruise missiles during a military exercise in the Gulf of Oman.

In addition, the Iranian navy paraded its high-speed ships in the Persian Gulf and tested a large drone.

Earlier, Iran said it will automatically return to its nuclear commitments if the United States US President Joe Biden lift sanctions.

According to the details, the Foreign Minister of Iran Javad Zarif in a recent interview to the local media said that Tehran would return to full compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal if U.S. President-elect Joe Biden lifts crippling sanctions against the country.

Zarif said that Tehran remains committed to the nuclear accord, known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and that Biden could make the changes quickly through “three executive orders.”
