US President Joe Biden has introduced the $1.9 trillion Covid-19 stimulus plan to combat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Former renowned US economic adviser Gene Sperling will monitor the implementation of the stimulus plan, the White House announced o Monday.

Sperling will work with officials to carry out the implementation, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki told the media.

Sperling has a prominent record as he has advised Biden’s presidential campaign. He has served under former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

Joe Biden announced the stimulus plan at an event. He called the economic advisor, a “gifted manager” who would ensure that the massive rescue plan was implemented fastidiously.

Biden said, “He’s ready to get to work. In fact, he’s already hit the ground running,” he added, “Together, we’re going to make sure the benefits of the American rescue plan go out quickly and directly to the American people, where they belong.”

White House spokesperson Psaki said that Sperling would work closely with White House policy councils and key leaders at federal agencies “so we can get funds out the door quickly, maximize its impact, accelerate the work that the administration is doing to crush COVID and rescue our economy,”

What is the Covid-19 stimulus plan?

The new stimulus plan has been made a law to deal with the economic problems aroused due to the pandemic.

According to the international news agency, the bill offers $400 billion for direct payments of $1,400 to most Americans, the aid of $350 billion to state and local governments. Child tax credit and more funds have been expanded to distribute vaccines.

Joe Biden and other US officials will explain the new legislation by traveling around the country.
