Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Iran of bombing an Israeli ship in the Gulf of Oman last week, a charge Tehran has denied the allegations.

According to reports, between Thursday and Friday night, the MV Helios Ray cargo ship was hit by an explosion above the water line, while US officials said that there were holes on both sides of the ship.

The Israeli prime minister’s statement came to light and he told Israeli public broadcaster Kan that it is clear that this was an operation carried out by Iran.

When asked if Israel would respond, Netanyahu said, “Iran is the greatest enemy of Israel, I am determined to halt it. We are hitting it in the entire region,”

Iran, on the other hand, has denied any involvement in the bombing.

“We strongly reject this allegation,” Saeed Khatibzadeh, a spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry in Tehran, told a news conference.

Kan Radio said Netanyahu’s interview was recorded on Sunday night before Syria accused Israel of launching missile strikes around southern Damascus.

Although Israel has not confirmed the attacks, it has said in the past that it is launching regular military operations against Iranian deployments or arms handovers in Syria.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s security cabinet minister and former Navy Admiral Yoav Galant said photos of the ship showed that every hole was made in the outer part of the mine and apparently in a Navy commando operation at night.

He said that the attacker would learn from open source material about the ship’s Israeli ownership when the incident took place near the Iranian-administered maritime strip.

At the same time, he said that his observation was confirmed in a formal investigation.

In November, Iran said it would “account” for the killing of its top nuclear scientist.

It should be noted that Iran had accused Israel of killing the scientist, but Israel did not respond.

The less popular Mohsen Fakhrizada was known as a key figure in Israel’s discovery of Iran’s nuclear weapons.

He was killed when gunmen ambushed him on a highway near Tehran and opened fire on his car.
