Tensions in Myanmar have increased as several police officers crossed the border and sought refuge as they refused to obey.

According to the international news agency, around 30 people including the officers and their families have sneaked in India to seek refuge.

Myanmar has asked India to return the officers. Authorities asked for their return “in order to uphold friendly relations” in a letter.

According to the international news agency, Deputy Commissioner Maria CT Zuali, a senior official in Champhai district in India, reported that she had received a letter from Myanmar officials in which they are requesting the return of police officers.

The letter reads, “In order to uphold friendly relations between the two neighbor countries, you are kindly requested to detain eight Myanmar police personnel who had arrived in Indian territories and hand-over to Myanmar”.

Ms. Zuali said she was awaiting instructions from India’s home affairs ministry in Delhi.

According to the Indian officials, some other Myanmar nationals are waiting at the border as they hope to enter India.

The United States has unveiled new sanctions targeting the military in Myanmar as dozens of civilians lost their lives while protesting against the coup.

As per the details, pro-democracy activists were seen holding protests in Myanmar on Friday. A big crowd marched peacefully in the city of Mandalay. They raised slogans, “The Stone Age is over, we’re not scared because you threaten us.”
