Sikh pilgrims from India arrived in Pakistan to attend the Baisakhi festival.

Led by Sardar Gurmeet Singh, around a thousand Sikh pilgrims have reached Lahore via Wagah.

Officials of the Abandoned Waqf Property Board (ETPB) and other members of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee welcomed the guests on their arrival in Pakistan.

The Sikh pilgrims said that they were very pleased to see the land of their Guru and were grateful to the government of Pakistan for issuing several visas.

Sikh pilgrims will attend the main ceremony on April 14 in Hassan Abdal.

All arrangements have been completed and SOPs will be fully implemented.

Baisakhi is a spring harvest festival for Sikhs and Hindus that marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year and is celebrated in 1699 with the formation of the Khalsa Panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh.

The pilgrims have reached the Wagah border at 10 am on Monday. After clearance by immigration, customs and security officials, they were received by officials of ETPB, Pakistan Gurdwara Management Committee and concerned persons.
