Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un ordered officials to wage tight coronavirus restrictions in “our style” after he shunned some foreign Covid-19 vaccines administered via the United Nations-backed immunization program.

The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday, the supreme leader said officials must “bear in mind that tightening pandemic prevention is the task of paramount importance which must not be loosened even a moment.”

While emphasising the requirement for tangible and technical means of pandemic prevention and increasing the qualification and capabilities of health workers’, Kim Jong Un also ordered “further rounding off our style epidemic prevention system,” KCNA stated.

Note that North Korea has refused COVAX’s offer to provide around 3 million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines.

On Tuesday this week, the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), which procures and delivers vaccines on behalf of the COVAX distribution program, said that North Korea proposed the allotment of about 3 million Sinovac vaccines shots be sent to critically affected nations instead.

Unicef further added that the health minister of North Korea has said it would continue to communicate with COVAX over future vaccines.

it is pertinent to mention here that in February this year North Korean hackers have attacked the computer network of US pharmaceutical company Pfizer in an attempt to “steal Coronavirus vaccine data”. This was stated by the intelligence agencies of South Korea, the rival country of Communist North Korea.

The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported on  February 16th)that North Korean hackers had attacked the online network of the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and tried to access vaccine data.
