A visual artist alleges his suitcase was taken for $3,000 on an American Airlines flight.

Soba, a Twitter user from Texas, stated he paid $60 to have his equipment box checked by American Airlines during his travel.

He stated he checked the contents of the box with airline staff present “for security purposes” before checking in for his flight.

Everything was well, according to the Twitter user, and he trusted the airline enough to hand over his belongings for the duration of his flight.

The artist reportedly discovered $3,000 worth of equipment “taken” when he opened his equipment box after the flight.

“What kind of service is this???”, he wrote on Twitter.

Soba claimed that after learning of his property’s tragic disappearance, he contacted American Airlines several times but received no response.

The airline, he alleged, had been “duking” him and “giving him the run around all day.”

“When you check in your luggage they are supposed to take care of your things,” a follow-up post said.

In a tweet that went viral, Soba revealed specifics about his flight.

Soba included images of his empty equipment box, as well as a photo of his luggage tag, in his tweet.

He then hinted that if American Airlines did not remedy the issue, he would pursue legal action.

Soba told The US Sun: ‘I have been reaching to the police at the airport and they said they cannot file a report for me because I handed my bag to the airline to take care of so technically I gave them my rights. Which is completely unfair.

‘I have been talking to American Airlines and they have been dragging their feet to get anything figured out for me. They told me to file a claim which can take months To resolve.

‘Since I put it on social media hundreds of people have reached out to me and told me that they have the same issue with airport and TSA agents stealing property from suitcases. It needs to be investigated!’

“Know you will bounce back.”

“Our team has been in touch with the customer, and we’re working to resolve the issue,” an American Airlines spokesperson told The Sun.
