Vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease to be developed in Dow University of Health Sciences
The Meat Merchants Association has welcomed the joint venture of Dow University of Health Sciences and Sindh Livestock Department to develop a vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease and offered full cooperation for the development of the vaccine.

President of the association Haji Abdul Majeed, Chairman Nasir Qureshi and General Secretary Sikandar Iqbal Qureshi in a joint statement said that Dow University has not only highlighted the importance of an important issue facing by the country by conducting a scientific seminar but also made suggestions for effective solutions of the problem and hoped to develop a vaccine.
Leaders of the Meat Merchants Association say that the people most affected by Lumpy Skin Disease are those involved in the meat business in Karachi. Meat sales in the city are down to only 30%. Before the disease three to five thousand animals were slaughtered daily but now this number has come down to less than one thousand per day.
He welcomed DG Livestock’s acknowledgment that Lumpy Skin Disease (LD) spread due to a vaccine privately ordered from South Africa.

The association has demanded that the matter must be investigated. The leaders said that the association is ready to cooperate in every positive step, including raising cattle or protecting them from diseases.
