The Los Angeles Police Department stated in a statement that A$AP Rocky was arrested Wednesday at the Los Angeles airport in connection with a November shooting.

The rapper, who was listed as a suspect in the shooting, was returning from a trip to Barbados with singer Rihanna, his girlfriend who is expecting their first child when cops grabbed him at Los Angeles International Airport and arrested him for “assault with a deadly weapon.”

Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, was a suspect in an ongoing investigation into a Nov. 6 shooting in which an altercation escalated and “resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim,” according to a statement issued Wednesday by the Los Angeles Police Department. According to officials, the victim received medical assistance after suffering relatively minor injuries. According to police, Rocky and two additional men fled the scene on foot.

“Detectives worked diligently to investigate and corroborate the reporting information which helped identify the suspect(s) involved,” police said in the statement.

The 33-year-old rapper has already been involved in legal difficulties after being imprisoned in Sweden during a street fight in 2019.

During the trial, Mayers claimed self-defense, stating that two individuals were harassing his entourage. According to Mayers, one of the men picked a fight with his security after he pleaded with them to stop following his group.
