Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has been to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a “display of solidarity.”

“Right now, Boris Johnson’s visit to Kyiv is beginning with a one-on-one discussion with President Zelenskiy,” said Andriy Sybiha, deputy head of Ukraine’s president office, on Facebook.

The trip is being made “in a gesture of solidarity with the Ukrainian people,” according to a representative for Downing Street.

“They will address the UK’s long-term commitment for Ukraine, and the Prime Minister will announce a new package of financial and military assistance,” the spokesperson added.

Mr Johnson’s surprise visit comes just days after the UK announced that it will send armored vehicles to Ukraine for the first time as part of a new £100 million package.
