Bosnia hits by 5.7 magnitude earthquake

A powerful earthquake hit Bosnia late Friday, killing one person and injuring at least two others, as well as forcing hundreds of people to abandon their homes.

According to the European Mediterranean Seismicological Center, the magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit 42 kilometres (26 miles) southeast of the city of Mostar at 11:07pm local time on Sunday. EMSC estimated the depth of the quake at 5 km (3.1 miles).

When an earthquake-dispersed rock slammed into a family home in Stolac, near Mostar, a 28-year-old woman died from her injuries, authorities said.

All over the country and in neighbouring Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, the quake was felt by people.
