During the two-day visit by UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, India aimed at speeding up a post-Brexit trade deal.

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson understated the chances of convincing India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to adopt a tougher stance on Ukraine.

Johnson said that Russia had a very different relationship with India than that of UK, owing to which, the government would have to contemplate that notion.

He raised Russia’s invasion of Ukraine during his visit.

Johnson praised Modi for his condemnation of the atrocities of Bucha.

India has refrained from attending various UN resolutions condemning Russia’s invasion.

While, on the contrary, it still continues to make significant purchases of Russian oil.

After witnessing the graves of civilians in the town of Bucha, the India’s representative for UN, unambiguously denounced the killings.

He also called for an open investigation, without mentioning country’s name.

Previously, Indian government has consistently avoided denouncing Russia’s aggressiveness.

It refrains from speaking, instead asking for a halt to bloodshed and a focus on diplomacy and engagement.
