Dozens killed and abducted in Nigeria’s central Plateau gang raids

In a series of raids across Nigeria’s central Plateau state, scores of people have been slain and dozens more have been kidnapped.
The Kanam region was assaulted on Sunday by gunmen riding dozens of motorcycles. They targeted at least four rural communities.
Additionally, they stole cattle and set fire to many houses.
In the north of the continent’s most populated country, armed gangs have been carrying out a string of attacks.
Last month’s train-bombings in Kaduna, when suspected bandits killed eight people and abducted hundreds of others, are rare in the state of Plateau.
Gunmen assaulted a Kaduna army post last week, killing fifteen troops.
The incident was verified by police and local officials, but the number of victims was not disclosed.
Those who live in the region claim this is the worst violence they’ve ever seen.
Due to an Islamist insurgency and a heavy workload, security personnel arrived almost 24 hours after the raid. They are expressing their displeasure.
