RUSSIANS SEE “Putin as a threat,” with the country concerned that the Russian leader’s stay will lead to disease and a world war, according to Russian journalist Viktor Shenderovish in a column.

The Kremlin’s assault on Ukraine continues, with at least five people murdered today as a result of Russian strikes on railway stations. According to the Ukrainian prosecutor general, 18 persons were injured in the attacks on the stations in Zhmerynka and Kozyatyn. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Russia is attempting to brutalize portions of Ukraine but is failing in its war objectives, whereas Kyiv is winning.

He said after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky: “The bottom line is this. \s“ We don’t know how the rest of this war will unfold, but we do know that a sovereign, independent Ukraine will be around a lot longer than Vladimir Putin is on the scene.

“And our support for Ukraine going forward will continue and it will continue until we see final success.”

According to UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, 15,000 Russian servicemen have been killed in fighting since Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Putin’s actions have been heavily criticized throughout the West, with the Russian President even accused of war crimes.

However, according to Russian journalist and dramatist Mr. Shenderovich, Putin may not have had full public support even before the invasion, with some Russians possibly viewing Putin as a “threat.”

Mr. Shenderovich’s opinion came in 2020 after Putin called off a mostly symbolic countrywide referendum on new constitutional reforms, which included a proposal to “nullified” his presidential term.

This meant that Putin changed the constitution by resetting presidential term limits, allowing him to stay in office until 2036.
