Dr. Fatih Birol, IEA Executive Director said that utilizing less energy was a substantial way to help the Ukrainian people.

They wanted to cut the energy bills and reduce reliance on Russian fuel.

Birol added that following such a step would reduce the flow of money to Russia’s military.

He continued, “And help put us on a path to a cleaner and more sustainable planet.”

Turning down the heat, using less air conditioning, working from home, and taking public transportation when available are all suggestions.

Governments might also give “financial incentives” by lowering transport rates and promoting the installation of solar panels, according to the report.

If all European Union residents adopted these efforts, enough oil would be saved to fill 120 super tankers.

Moreover, enough natural gas would be saved to heat over 20 million homes, according to the news release.
